Auditioning in Two Worlds: What You Need For Self Taped and In Person Auditions, Part 2 of 2

If you find yourself auditioning or attending a callback in person, here's a checklist to make sure you're prepared:

  • Audition Book in a Sturdy Binder with your sheet music clearly marked and double sided in Non-Glare Sheet Protectors (if you’re into that sort of thing.)

  • Multiple copies of your Headshot and Resume. If your binder doesn’t have a built in pocket, I recommend that you keep these in a Plastic Folder so they stay looking nice.

  • Mini Stapler and Non-Sharp Scissors for H/R prep just in case the line at the Pearl paper cutter is long and you’re running late because the MTA did you dirty.

  • A pencil for last minute sheet music marking. Because why not change your cut moments before walking in the room? Cheap thrills, folks.

  • Your audition shoes. (Did this make the checklist because I’ve auditioned in my commuting shoes before? Yes.)

  • Your water bottle.

  • An SOVT Straw for quiet last minute vocalization because you’ve been sitting quietly in the holding room for too long, down the hall and NOT to the distraction of your fellow auditioners on the line, C’MON.

  • Your audition sides, if applicable. And you know what? Print and prep the callback sides in the packet too, not just the initial.

  • Appropriate change of clothes and shoes if there’s a possibility you may be asked to stay to dance.

  • A cute, but functional bag to carry all of this stuff. (I love this bookbag and it regularly get compliments.)

With all these items checked off, you'll be set for success at your in-person audition or callback! Break a leg!
